Our two bright and well stocked preschool classrooms welcome children who are age 2.5+ and potty-trained.  The classrooms are set up with centers that inspire children to explore and discover independently.  The ratio of teachers to children is 1 to 8, occasionally reaching 1 to 10. 

Utilizing a true play based philosophy, the children have ample choices for activities and many learning materials available to them throughout the day.  The children are actively learning through exploration, experimentation, and investigation in their classroom and outside environment.  They are encouraged to participate in project based learning and work cooperatively in a group setting.  There are many opportunities for self-expression through art, circle time discussions, music, movement, and play.  We aim to foster independence and self-help skills and promote self-esteem and positive social/emotional interactions with peers and teachers.  Teachers are readily available to assist with building these skills, as well as supporting the children’s efforts at communication and negotiation.  Our teachers strike a wonderful balance between nurturing and setting limits.  Teachers model kind and considerate behavior and help mediate situations that a child may struggle to find the words for or the appropriate actions for.
 

This age group is exposed to both letters and numbers, disguised in fun projects, games, and activities.  Curriculum includes a weekly or monthly theme, tackling topics such as seasons, animal life, travel, and holidays.  Children are also working on recognizing their name, following simple directions, and engaging cooperatively with others.  

Our goal is to promote self love, self expression, self confidence and a true love of learning.  These developmentally appropriate practices are in place to prepare them for the shift to our Pre K program, and more importantly to prepare them for the real world, one step at a time.
