Our two colorful and spacious Pre K classrooms welcome children ages 4-5 years old.  The classrooms are set up with centers that inspire children to explore and discover independently.  The ratio of teachers to children is 1 to 8, occasionally reaching 1 to 10.  

Utilizing a true play based philosophy, the children have ample choices for activities and many learning materials available to them throughout the day.  Project based learning through arts, crafts, cooking, science, gardening, and construction take place each day.  This age group is fine tuning their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through play and active classroom participation.  Teachers are guiding and supporting growth in all areas through modeling positive behavior, group discussions, art projects, journaling, brainstorming, charting, games, music and movement, experimentation, and investigation of the indoor and outdoor environments.

In this age group, we see incredible leaps with regard to fine motor skills, attention span, and ability to focus and follow directions independently.  The teachers provide assistance when needed, but encourage the children to take an active role in maintaining their classrooms and expanding on their weekly themes.

The curriculum covers exploration of the alphabet, numbers, shapes, holidays, and various topics based on the interests of the children. Children at this age and stage are eager to be helpers, leaders, scientists, mathematicians, engineers, writers, and artists.  We embrace their differences and encourage them to reach beyond their successes.
